ChatGPT App Expands to 12 Countries: Is India Next?

OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, a popular artificial intelligence (AI) powered chatbot, is now available on iPhones in 12 more countries. The expansion was announced by OpenAI’s CTO, Mira Murati, who listed the countries as Albania, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Brazil, South Korea, New Zealand, the UK, Nigeria, and Nicaragua. Murati also hinted at further expansion plans, with India potentially being included in the next phase.

Since its public release as a web version last year, ChatGPT has seen phenomenal success, becoming the fastest-growing platform worldwide. It amassed an impressive 100 million users within just two months of its release, a feat not even achieved by popular apps like Instagram and TikTok. However, the chatbot is not yet available as an app for Android phones.

The ChatGPT app offers the same functionalities as its web version, providing responses to complex queries in a conversational manner. It can also edit lengthy articles, review app codes, and solve mathematical problems. Users with a ChatGPT Plus membership, priced at $20 or Rs 1,655 per month, can enjoy additional features such as plugin support, instant replies, and zero wait time.

The app’s expansion into new countries will enable users to access information on the go, as ChatGPT supports multiple languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and even Hindi, although its proficiency in English is superior.

For users in countries where the ChatGPT app is not yet available, Microsoft’s Bing app offers a similar conversational tool called Bing Chat. This tool, free for all users, leverages the power of ChatGPT’s GPT language module due to Microsoft’s strategic partnership with OpenAI. Bing Chat is particularly useful for those who frequently use Microsoft Office apps, as the company is gradually integrating AI capabilities into Word, Excel, and more.

Meanwhile, Google’s ChatGPT competitor, Bard, is not yet available as an app. As the AI chatbot landscape continues to evolve, users worldwide eagerly anticipate the further expansion of ChatGPT and the introduction of new AI-powered tools.
